Author: Bob Dries
The Left Guard bar in Appleton, Wisconsin was owned and operated by Max McGee and Fuzzy Thurston of the Lombardi-era Green Bay Packers. With that pedigree, it quickly became the favorite spot for Packer players on their Monday nights off. Contained in this book are first-hand recollections of all the raucous shenanigans, the late night bar hours, after bar parties, and general zaniness that went on. It's also the story of how the author got started in the business, and all the crazy escapades, oddball incidents and colorful characters that marked the author's career behind the bar at several other bistros including the first nude dancing club in Wisconsin.
