Tighter
By: Adele Griffin

Where do I even begin with this book? There were so many in-and-outs of this book and plot twists that I don't even know where to start explaining the plot. The book is about an unhappy girl named Jamie arrives on Little Bly, an island in New England, she is shocked to find out what has gone on there. She is only there to work as an au pair over the summer. A young couple died, and Jamie finds out that she looks exactly like the dead girl. Also, why can she suddenly see two ghosts? What happened there? Nothing is certain but as things get more and more intense around the house, Jamie is caught up in a web of mystery and the line between living and dead becomes increasingly hard to determine.

I liked this book, but there were a few things about it that seemed a little bit too convenient for Jamie's situation. Why did her parents let her go away for the summer when they knew she took pills? Tiny little plot holes like that mostly kept me from enjoying the story fully but I did like how it was creepy while still allowing character development. I love old stories like this. This book was actually considered to be a modern day version of The Taming of the Shrew for teens, but soon into the plotline, Adele took her story and molded it into something completely unique. I hadn't read any of her previous books, but I thought that Tighter was promising enough for me to pick them up. It wasn’t drop-dead horror, but was scary enough to keep me up. It actually went a lot into the ghost story and I really liked how Adele changed things around.  If you're a fan of a light mystery or a creepy ghost story, I definitely recommend this.
